Borderlands 2 Axton Build

Borderlands 2 Axton Build

Borderlands 2 AXTON

Axton is the commando character in Borderlands 2 and one of the favorites for his heavy damage as well as his ability to sponge damage. His turret makes him one of the favorite characters for playing solo since it can deal devastating damage while giving Ax a place to hide behind.

Axton’s Borderlands 2 skill tree revolves around Turret Damage, Personal Damage, and Personal Defense. Guerilla focuses on his turret by giving it boosts of power and him the ability to hide while it does most the work, solo builds revolve heavily around the Guerilla tree. Gunpower is Axton’s personal damage tree and increases his attack to devastating levels. Finally Survival is Axton’s tank tree giving him the ability to soak for a Borderlands 2 team if necessary, but personally I say screw them, learn to dodge.

Borderlands 2 Axton Builds

Damage Dealer Build:

My personal favorite Borderlands 2 build is the damage dealer build. This build focuses on you dealing the most damage possible with your own weapons and not relying on the turret. Not the best for solo unless you’re good at headshots while running. This build focuses on insane fire, damage, and reload rates with a little bit of survivability.

Guerilla: 5pts total

5/5 Ready: 40% increase to reload time is completely necessary since he will be doing most he damage, not his turret.

Gunpowder: 30pts total

5/5 Impact: Pure damage increases are always nice. 20% increase to gun damage is mandatory for a personal damage build.

5/5 Metal Storm: This skill is what allows you devastate waves of enemies when you’re outnumbered. Killing an enemy gives you an increase of 60% fire rate and 75% recoil reduction.

5/5 Battlefront: Deploying your turret will increase your personal damage by 30%. It makes the turret useful since you’re not putting points into its tree. Highly recommended.

5/5 Duty Calls: As long as you’re using non elemental weapons your damage and speed of firing will be increased heavily. Stacking this with all your other speed and damage buffs, you’re turning pretty vicious.

5/5 Do or Die: I take this primarily for the increase to rocket launcher damage but the other aspects of it are nice as well.

5/5 Ranger: 5% boost in pretty much everything can’t be ignored.

Survival: 10pts total

5/5 Healthy: 30% increase in health is never scoffed at.

5/5 Preparation: Increase shield power and health regeneration. This skill shouldn’t be avoided.

Turret Build:

A favorite Borderlands 2 build for people who like to solo a lot, this build gives the player the ability to do heavy damage while avoiding heavy damage. You rely heavily on your turrets to do the damage which is somewhat of a handicap, but with the power they’re packing there shouldn’t be too much of an issue.

Guerilla: 13pts total

5/5 Sentry: Increases duration of your turret as well as the shots fired in each burst. This is a turret build so…yeah.

5/5 Laser Sights: Increases turret accuracy by 50%. This is a turret build so…yeah.

1/1 Scotched Earth: Rocket pads on the turrets. Since you will have two turrets by the end of this build…yeah.

Gunpowder: 5pts total

5/5 Impact: For a level one skill, this one is just too good to pass up, so you’ll take it every time.

Survival: 27pts total

5/5 Healthy: Increases health by 30%, can’t be ignored, especially when soloing.

1/5 Preparation: Taken purely for the additional health regeneration.

5/5 Pressure: This is a lifesaver. It increases the rate at which you reload as well as the rate at which your shield charges depending on how low your health is. Very strong skill for soloing.

1/1 Phalanx Stand: Offers a shield for you to stand behind on your turrets. This reminds me of American Gladiators…

4/5 Quick Charge: Each time an enemy dies your shield will regenerate, pretty quickly as well. This is a very useful skill while soloing.

5/5 Resourceful: 25% cooldown reduction on your turret. This skill is awesome and allows you to have almost constant up time of your turrets.

5/5 Grit: Besides it being mandatory that you take any skill called Grit, this skill gives you a 20% chance to avoid damage that would kill you and return you to half health. This skill is overpowered considering how damn near unkillable you are as is.

1/1 Gemini: Double the turrets, double the rockets, double the fun.

Pure tank:

I do not like this Borderlands 2 build for anything but multi-player. It honestly is not very fun since all you are is a meat shield that does very little damage. Your health and shield recharge rates are through the roof and even should you get near dead, you have a 20% chance to move right back up to half health. You will probably never die, but you won’t do much killing either…and not killing makes Axton a sad panda.

Guerilla: 14pts total

5/5 Ready: 40% increase to reload time is a solid skill but taken to get to other ones. Nice for big damage weapons still.

5/5 Willing: Shield recharge rate increased heavily as well as reduced recharge delay.

4/5 Able: Damaging an enemy causes you to regenerate health.

Gunpowder: 0pts.

Survival: 31pts total

5/5 Healthy: 30% increase in health is never scoffed at.

5/5 Preparation: Increase shield power and health regeneration.

5/5 Pressure: This is a lifesaver. It increases the rate at which you reload as well as the rate at which your shield charges depending on how low your health is. In the event an enemy gets you low with this build, you will be back up in no time.

5/5 Forbearance: Health increase and status effect decrease. You become a juggernaut bitch.

1/1 Phalanx Shield: Still creates a safety wall for you or your team.

5/5 Quick Charge: Each time an enemy dies your shield will regenerate, pretty quickly as well. This is a very useful skill while soloing and for tanking with your team.

5/5 Grit: One does not take a skill called Grit when it’s an option. And it pretty much god modes you with this build.
